Professor Godsent Chichebem Isiguzo is Professor of Medicine at Alex Ekwueme Federal University and Head of the Cardiology Division at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, Nigeria. 


Professor Isiguzo earned his medical degree from Abia State University and became a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians in 2011. He obtained his PhD in Medicine from the University of Cape Town in 2019, where he worked as a clinical research fellow on the IMPI-2 pericarditis trial under Professors Bongani Mayosi and Mpiko Ntsekhe. A 2017 World Heart Federation Emerging Leader and recipient of the International Society of Hypertension Foundation Fellowship, Professor Isiguzo has trained extensively through programs including the ISCEP 10-day seminar in Seoul and the American Thoracic Society MECOR program. 


With over 70 peer-reviewed publications and 10 book chapters, he serves as Deputy Director of the African School of Hypertension and principal investigator for multiple clinical trials including the UPRIGHT-HTM study. His research focuses on hypertension epidemiology, heart failure, and cardiovascular disease in pregnancy. 


Professor Isiguzo is passionate about building cardiovascular research capacity and training the next generation of cardiologists across Africa.


The Cardiovascular Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) international nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting cardiovascular education, research and patient care in Africa and the African Diaspora.
