Dr. Esther O. Ijaola is a Consultant Physician and Interventional Cardiologist at Lagos University Teaching Hospital and Adjunct Lecturer at Lead City University in Nigeria. She completed her medical degree at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Ogbomoso, followed by internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at University College Hospital, Ibadan, where she trained from 2013 to 2022. Dr. Ijaola also earned an MSc in Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine from the University of South Wales. Board-certified as a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians in Cardiology, she specializes in invasive and non-invasive cardiac interventions, cardiac intensive care management, and echocardiography. 


A dedicated educator, Dr. Ijaola supervises and teaches internal medicine residents, cardiac physiologists, and medical students across multiple institutions. Her research focuses on cardiovascular abnormalities in HIV-positive patients in Sub-Saharan Africa, and she has presented extensively at Nigerian Cardiac Society conferences. As one of Nigeria's interventional cardiologists working to expand catheterization laboratory services while training the next generation of cardiac specialists, Dr. Ijaola is helping build sustainable cardiovascular care infrastructure in West Africa.

The Cardiovascular Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) international nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting cardiovascular education, research and patient care in Africa and the African Diaspora.
