Dr. Adrian Holloway, a pioneering pediatric intensivist whose extraordinary commitment to global health has transformed cardiac critical care delivery across continents. As Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Maryland and founder of the nation's first Global Health Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship, Dr. Holloway has redefined what it means to bring world-class intensive care to children in resource-limited settings.
From his medical training at Virginia Commonwealth University through his fellowship at Children's National Medical Center, Dr. Holloway has built a career that seamlessly bridges advanced cardiac intensive care with sustainable healthcare development. His volunteer missions span from Iraq to Nigeria, where he not only performs complex pediatric cardiac surgeries but also establishes lasting educational partnerships. Currently serving as Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Lead for the VOOM Foundation at Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital in Nigeria, he exemplifies hands-on leadership in global health.
Dr. Holloway's groundbreaking Global PARITY study—estimating the burden of pediatric critical illness across resource-limited settings—demonstrates his commitment to data-driven solutions for global health inequities. His vision extends beyond individual patient care to systemic change, training the next generation of intensivists to serve where the need is greatest. For our symposium, Dr. Holloway brings not just expertise, but a profound understanding of how to build sustainable cardiac care programs that save children's lives worldwide.
