Dr. Crawford is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Harbor. He graduated with his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Ctr College of Medicine, after which he went on to pursue internal medicine, cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology training at Duke University, Washington University in St. Louis and University of Michigan respectively.
He has been one of the leading voices in issue of access to pacemakers for patients in low-income countries, and device reuse in the same. He is principal investigator in the My Heart Your Heart trial, a randomized control trial to study the use of resterilized cardiac devices and compare them to outcomes of new locally available devices.
He presently serves as chairman of ForHearts Worldwide, non-profit organization that saves lives by fundraising and creating a network for providing implantable cardiovascular devices for people in need in developing countries around the world.
