Dr. Ogochukwu Sokunbi is a pediatric cardiologist with over 17 years of clinical experience, currently completing her pediatric residency at Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School. She earned her medical degree from the University of Lagos (2007) and completed fellowships with the West African College of Physicians (2015) and National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (2017), along with specialized training in pediatric cardiology and interventional procedures in Chennai, India.
Previously Senior Lecturer at the University of Lagos and Consultant Pediatric Cardiologist at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Sokunbi pioneered pediatric cardiac interventions in Nigeria, leading the team that performed the country's first transcatheter device closure of a ventricular septal defect. She has been instrumental in establishing indigenous cardiac catheterization and surgical programs across Nigeria.
Dr. Sokunbi has authored 21 articles in international peer-reviewed journals and served as an expert reviewer for FIFA's consensus statement on cardiac screening in youth football. She is passionate about advancing comprehensive pediatric cardiac care globally, particularly adapting best practices for resource-limited settings.
