Dr. Ayodele Osasona, a cardiothoracic surgeon whose remarkable journey from Harvard biomedical engineering to the operating room reflects his deep commitment to both surgical excellence and health equity. A proud graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and recipient of the prestigious 2022 Torch of Excellence Lyman T Johnson Award, Dr. Osasona has built his career on the belief that exceptional cardiac care should reach every community.
Currently serving at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky, Dr. Osasona tackles complex cardiac cases while championing healthcare access in underserved regions. His passion for community engagement shines through his work with rural Kentucky students, advancing health literacy through innovative educational programs. After completing his general surgery training at the University of Texas Medical Branch and thoracic surgery fellowship at Ochsner Clinic Foundation—where he earned induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society—he has never forgotten his roots, regularly volunteering with the VOOM Foundation in Oraifite, Nigeria.
