Dr. Danai Kitkungvan is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at UT Health, Houston. He graduated as Doctor of Medicine with first class honors from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, and completed internal medicine residency at St. Vincent Hospital, MA, followed by Cardiology fellowship at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in 2014.
Dr. Kitkungvan has subspecialty training in Echocardiography at VA West Roxbury/Boston Medical Center and Cardiovascular MRI at Houston Methodist Hospital. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. Since 2016, he has pursued academic medicine at McGovern Medical School, focusing on cardiovascular imaging by Cardiovascular MRI and cardiac PET.
His research, conducted under the mentorship of Dr. K. Lance Gould, focuses on myocardial perfusion imaging with cardiac PET and cardiovascular MRI research. Dr. Kitkungvan has published extensively on cardiac imaging, including studies on myocardial remodeling, diffuse interstitial fibrosis in mitral regurgitation, and optimal adenosine stress protocols for coronary flow assessment.
