Professor Kamilu Karaye is a Professor of Medicine at Bayero University and Consultant Cardiologist at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where he currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences.
Professor Karaye earned his medical degree from the University of Jos, his Master's in Cardiology from Imperial College London, and his PhD from Umeå University in Sweden. A Fellow of the West African College of Physicians, Nigerian Cardiac Society, Royal College of Physicians of London, European Society of Cardiology, and American College of Cardiology, he brings exceptional international credentials to his work.
As Principal Investigator of the landmark PEACE Registry—Nigeria's premier peripartum cardiomyopathy research initiative—Professor Karaye has significantly advanced our understanding of cardiovascular disease in African populations. With over 120 peer-reviewed publications spanning hypertension and cardiovascular medicine, he serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Nigerian Journal of Cardiology, Associate Editor of the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, and Vice President of the Nigerian Cardiac Society. His leadership continues to shape cardiovascular research and clinical practice across Nigeria and beyond.
