Modele O. Ogunniyi, MD, MPH, FACC, FAHA is Professor of Medicine and Master Physician in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University. She serves as Director of the Georgia CTSA Clinical Research Center at Grady Memorial Hospital and Associate Medical Director of the Grady Heart Failure Program. Her clinical and research interests center on hypertension, heart failure, cardiovascular outcomes, and improving the delivery of evidence-based cardiovascular care.
Dr. Ogunniyi earned her medical degree from the University of Ibadan and an MPH from Johns Hopkins University. She completed Internal Medicine residency at Morehouse School of Medicine and fellowship training in Cardiovascular Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, with additional training in preventive medicine, public health, and cardiovascular epidemiology.
A nationally recognized clinician-investigator, Dr. Ogunniyi has led numerous cardiovascular clinical trials and has helped establish Grady as a high-performing site for clinical research within a safety-net health system. She received the 2025 AHA/Heart Failure Collaboratory Top Principal Investigator Award and served on the writing committee for the 2025 AHA/ACC Hypertension Guidelines. She is deeply committed to mentorship, implementation science, and expanding cardiovascular research and care both in the United States and globally.
