Nnaemeka Okafor MD, MS

Nnaemeka G. Okafor, MD is an emergency physician, clinical informatician, and Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. For nearly two decades, he has cared for patients at Memorial Hermann's Level I Trauma Center and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, one of the nation's largest safety-net hospitals. He also serves as Vice President and Chief Analytics and Informatics Officer at Memorial Hermann Health System, where he leads enterprise-wide initiatives in clinical analytics, informatics, and digital health.

Board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Clinical Informatics, Dr. Okafor has dedicated his career to improving patient outcomes through innovation, data-driven decision-making, and physician education. A five-time recipient of the Dean's Teaching Excellence Award, he is widely recognized for his commitment to mentoring medical students and residents, including teaching point-of-care ultrasound and emergency cardiovascular care.

Born into a family of physicians in Nigeria, Dr. Okafor developed an early appreciation for delivering high-quality care in resource-limited environments. His experiences in Nigerian healthcare continue to inform his passion for practical, evidence-based medicine and strengthening healthcare systems through education, technology, and clinical innovation.
