Lazaros Nikolaidis MD, FACC, FAHA, FHFSA

Dr. Lazaros Nikolaidis is an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist and Associate Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. His clinical expertise encompasses advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and complex cardiomyopathies. He previously served on the faculty at Temple University and has been involved in cardiovascular education and clinical research throughout his career.

Dr. Nikolaidis earned his medical degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, graduating second in his class, before completing Internal Medicine training at Penn State and fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation in Pittsburgh.

An accomplished clinician-investigator, Dr. Nikolaidis has received research funding from the American Heart Association and has contributed extensively to research in heart failure, transplantation, cardiomyopathy, and cardiovascular metabolism. He has also served as an investigator in major multicenter heart failure trials and contributed to international guidance on the evaluation and management of cardiac transplant candidates.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and Heart Failure Society of America and remains actively engaged in cardiovascular education, mentorship, and advancing the care of patients with heart failure.
