Anurag Mehta MD

Anurag Mehta, MD, FACC, FAHA, FASPC, is a preventive cardiologist, physician-scientist, and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine. His clinical and research interests focus on cardiovascular risk assessment, lipid disorders, novel biomarkers, cardiometabolic health, and global cardiovascular disease prevention.

Dr. Mehta completed his medical education at the All IndiaInstitute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi and his Internal Medicine residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He subsequently completed cardiovascular medicine and dedicated preventive cardiology training at Emory University, where he also pursued postdoctoral research in cardiovascular disease prevention.

A prolific investigator, Dr. Mehta has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, with research spanning lipoprotein(a), coronary artery calcium, cardiovascular biomarkers, cardiometabolic disease, health disparities, and global cardiovascular epidemiology. His work increasingly focuses on translating advances in risk prediction and precision medicine into effective preventive therapies and clinical practice.

Dr. Mehta serves on the National Board of Directors of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology and is an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology. He has received multiple national research awards, including the American Heart Association Lifestyle/Cardiometabolic Health Early Career Investigator Award and the American Society for Preventive Cardiology Young Investigator Award. Through his clinical care, research, and national leadership, he is helping shape contemporary approaches to cardiovascular disease prevention.
