Kevin Kwaku MD, PhD

Dr. Kevin Kwaku is a cardiac electrophysiologist, physician-scientist, and Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology at Dartmouth Health. He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. His career spans clinical electrophysiology, cardiovascular research, program development, medical education, and national leadership.

Dr. Kwaku earned his undergraduate degree in Physiology from McGill University and his PhD in Pharmacology and medical degree from Columbia University. He completed Internal Medicine training at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he trained in electrophysiology under the mentorship of Dr. Mark Josephson.

A clinician and innovator, Dr. Kwaku has led the development of multiple electrophysiology programs, including lead extraction, atrial fibrillation ablation, ambulatory device procedures, and most recently pulsed field ablation at Dartmouth. His research interests include atrial fibrillation, digital health, cardiac devices, arrhythmia risk prediction, and emerging ablation technologies. He has served as a principal investigator and steering committee member for numerous clinical studies and is an inventor on a pulsed field ablation catheter system.

Dr. Kwaku has also held longstanding leadership roles in the Association of Black Cardiologists and currently serves as its President. His commitment to mentorship, health equity, and the development of the next generation of cardiovascular specialists complements a career dedicated to advancing the science and practice of cardiac electrophysiology.
