Onyedika Ilonze MD, MPH

Onyedika J. Ilonze, MD, MPH, FACC, FHFSA, FAHA is an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist at Indiana University Health and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. He serves as Program Director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship and specializes in advanced heart failure, heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, pulmonary hypertension, and complex cardiomyopathies.

Dr. Ilonze earned his medical degree from the University of Nigeria and a Master of Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed Internal Medicine training at Unity Health/Rochester Regional Health, Cardiovascular Disease fellowship at Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic, and advanced fellowship training in Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology at Wake Forest University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

An active clinician-investigator and educator, Dr. Ilonze’sresearch focuses on heart failure and transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and health disparities in advanced cardiovascular care. His work reflects a commitment to improving access to evidence-based heart failure therapies and advancing equitable care for patients with advanced cardiovascular disease.
