Adrian Holloway MD

Adrian J. Holloway, MD, FAAP is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and a pediatric intensivist specializing in pediatric cardiac critical care. He is internationally recognized for advancing pediatric critical care in low-resource settings through clinical care, education, and research. Dr. Holloway founded one of the first Pediatric Critical Care Global Health Fellowship programs in the United States and has led educational and capacity-building initiatives across Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and the Caribbean. He currently serves as Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Lead for the VOOM Foundation at Dame Irene OkwuosaMemorial Hospital in Nigeria, where he partners with local teams to develop sustainable pediatric cardiac intensive care programs.

His research focuses on global pediatric critical care, health systems strengthening, and resource-appropriate critical care delivery, including the landmark Global PARITY study, which examined the burden of pediatric critical illness in resource-limited settings. Through his work, Dr. Holloway continues to advance equitable access to high-quality pediatric cardiac and critical care worldwide.
