Bode Falase, MBBS, PhD is Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and one of Nigeria's leading cardiac surgeons. A graduate of the University of Ibadan, he completed advanced cardiothoracic surgery training in Wales and earned the Intercollegiate Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh before returning to Nigeria to help advance cardiovascular surgery and education.
Professor Falase has played a central role in the development of modern cardiac surgery in Nigeria, contributing to the establishment and growth of open-heart surgery programs and championing the use of clinical registries to improve patient outcomes. As a Past President of the Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons of Nigeria (ACTSON), he has been a strong advocate for collaboration, quality improvement, and evidence-based surgical practice across the region.
His academic interests include outcomes research, clinical registries, and the development of sustainable cardiac surgery programs in Africa. Through his leadership, mentorship, and commitment to strengthening local capacity, Professor Falase continues to shape the future of cardiothoracic surgery in Nigeria and across West Africa.
