Dr. Emmanuel Edafe is a Senior Lecturer in Internal Medicine at the University of Port Harcourt and an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital. He is an interventional cardiologist with expertise spanning coronary and peripheral interventions, cardiac pacing, defibrillator therapy, and cardiac resynchronization therapy.
Dr. Edafe earned his medical degree from the University of Nigeria and completed postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital. He is a Fellow of both the West African College of Physicians and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and completed additional fellowship training in interventional cardiology at Apollo Heart in Delhi, India, as well as advanced cardiac device training.
An experienced proceduralist, Dr. Edafe has performed more than 1,000 advanced cardiovascular procedures, including pacemaker implantation, cardiac resynchronization therapy, ICD implantation, coronary interventions, and complex peripheral vascular interventions. He performed Nigeria’s first left bundle branch area pacing procedure and the country’s first endovascular cardiac biopsy.
Dr. Edafe is also an active researcher and educator, with academic interests in cardiac devices, coronary artery disease, and cardiovascular care in resource-limited settings. His work reflects a commitment to expanding access to advanced interventional and device-based cardiovascular care in Nigeria.
