Dawn Scantlebury MBBS, DMFACC, FACP, FSCAI

Dr. Dawn Scantlebury is Head of Cardiovascular Services and a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados, and Senior Associate Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.

She completed her medical and Internal Medicine training at the University of the West Indies, followed by further training at the University of Kentucky and fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease, Advanced Echocardiography, and Interventional Cardiology at the Mayo Clinic. After returning to Barbados, she established the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s percutaneous coronary intervention program and performed the country’s first public-sector coronary angioplasty.

Dr. Scantlebury is a prominent advocate for cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation and serves in leadership roles with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados and the Barbados National Registry of Noncommunicable Diseases. Her work focuses on acute coronary syndrome care, cardiac rehabilitation, women’s cardiovascular health, and expanding access to high-quality cardiovascular care across the Caribbean.
