Chigozie Charles Ekengwu MBBS, MWACP is a Senior Registrar in Cardiology at University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria, where he is completing subspecialty training in cardiovascular medicine. His clinical interests include interventional and structural cardiology, heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, adult congenital heart disease, and cardiovascular imaging.


Dr. Ekengwu earned his medical degree from Ebonyi State University and subsequently pursued postgraduate training in Internal Medicine, completing Part I Fellowship qualifications with both the West African College of Physicians and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. His clinical training includes experience in echocardiography, ECG and ambulatory rhythm interpretation, and the management of a broad spectrum of cardiovascular disease.


In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Ekengwu is actively involved in medical education, clinical audit, quality improvement, and cardiovascular research. His research interests include speckle-tracking echocardiography, heart failure, hypertension, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiovascular outcomes. He is particularly interested in developing expertise in interventional cardiology while contributing to the advancement of cardiovascular care, research, and physician education in Nigeria.


The Cardiovascular Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) international nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting cardiovascular education, research and patient care in Africa and the African Diaspora.
