Charles Onyedika Okorie, MBBS, FWACP is a cardiologist at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, Nigeria, with particular interests in interventional cardiology, cardiac devices, and peripartum cardiomyopathy. He is currently pursuing further training in interventional cardiology, with a long-term commitment to expanding access to advanced cardiovascular care in Nigeria and across Sub-Saharan Africa.


Dr. Okorie earned his medical degree from the University of Nigeria and completed postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, becoming a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians in 2025. He also holds a Diploma in Echocardiography from the Medical University of Vienna and the Austrian Cardiac Society.


Dr. Okorie has participated in cardiovascular education and training initiatives with the Cardiovascular Education Foundation and the VOOM Foundation and has served as part of the open-heart surgery and interventional cardiology team at Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital. He is passionate about cardiovascular education, community outreach, and building the expertise and infrastructure needed to deliver sustainable interventional cardiovascular care in resource-limited settings.


The Cardiovascular Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) international nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting cardiovascular education, research and patient care in Africa and the African Diaspora.
