Anne Tierney MSc

Anne Tierney is an experienced cardiac physiologist with more than 20 years of clinical and leadership experience across cardiac diagnostics, electrophysiology, echocardiography, and cardiac implantable electronic devices. She currently serves as Head of Cardiology at a private hospital in Dublin, where she leads a team of cardiac physiologists and oversees clinical services, staff development, and departmental innovation.

Ms. Tierney is an IBHRE-certified cardiac rhythm specialist and has played a key role in developing electrophysiology and device services, including establishing a device clinic and remote monitoring program that now follows more than 1,000 patients remotely. She has also led major quality-improvement initiatives in echocardiography and contributed to the development of a dedicated electrophysiology and device catheterization laboratory.

She holds a BSc in Clinical Physiology and an MSc in Healthcare Management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. More recently, Ms. Tierney has extended her work internationally as a volunteer with the Cardiovascular Education Foundation in Lagos, contributing her expertise in cardiac devices and electrophysiology to patient care and local team development.

A particularly important part of her work is mentorship. She finds her greatest professional rewards in using cardiac diagnostics to identify previously unrecognized disease and in helping colleagues develop the skills and confidence needed to advance in cardiac electrophysiology
