Anezi Uzendu, MD is an interventional cardiologist and Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where he also practices at the VA North Texas Health Care System. His clinical and academic interests span interventional cardiology, cardiac arrest and resuscitation, cardiovascular outcomes, and health disparities.


Dr. Uzendu earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City and completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He subsequently completed fellowship training in Cardiovascular Medicine at The Ohio State University and Interventional Cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by a research fellowship in cardiovascular outcomes at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute.


A nationally recognized advocate for improving cardiac arrest outcomes, Dr. Uzendu has contributed to multiple American Heart Association scientific statements and resuscitation guidelines, including the 2023 Adult Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Focused Update and the 2025 AHA Guidelines for Systems of Care. His research has examined disparities in cardiac arrest survival, coronary intervention, resuscitation systems, and strategies to improve cardiovascular outcomes.


His commitment to resuscitation extends beyond the hospital through Make BLS Basic, a community initiative he leads in partnership with Dallas schools to expand CPR education and cardiac arrest awareness. Dr. Uzendu is a frequent educator and invited speaker and was recognized with the American Heart Association Resuscitation Science Symposium Young Investigator Award.
