Dr. Anene Ukaigwe is an Interventional and Structural Cardiologist at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and a member of the Valve and Structural Heart Disease Center at the Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute. Her clinical interests include transcatheter therapies for mitral, tricuspid, and aortic valve disease, left atrial appendage occlusion, and interventional treatment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Dr. Ukaigwe earned her medical degree from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria and completed Internal Medicine residency at Reading Hospital in Pennsylvania. She subsequently completed Cardiovascular Disease fellowship at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Interventional Cardiology fellowship at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, and advanced fellowship training in Adult Structural and Congenital Heart Disease at the Minneapolis Heart Institute/Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
Her academic interests center on advancing catheter-based therapies for structural heart disease, with particular interests in mitral and tricuspid valve interventions, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and disparities in cardiovascular care. She is also actively involved in research and education and has presented her work at national cardiovascular meetings.
