Dr. Akintayo Adesokan is a Consultant Paediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiologist at Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, where he also serves as Paediatric Cardiology Network Lead for the North East of England and North Cumbria Congenital Heart Disease Network. His clinical practice focuses on congenital cardiac catheterization and intervention across the spectrum of pediatric and adult congenital heart disease.


Dr. Adesokan earned his medical degree from St. George’s, University of London and completed specialist training in pediatric cardiology at Evelina London Children’s Hospital and Freeman Hospital in Newcastle. He subsequently undertook an advanced fellowship in interventional catheterization at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto before returning to Freeman Hospital in 2022.


In addition to his clinical and network leadership roles, Dr. Adesokan is actively involved in medical education and leads the middle-grade Pediatric Cardiology teaching program at Freeman Hospital. He is also committed to expanding access to congenital heart care internationally and has volunteered on pediatric cardiac surgical and catheterization missions in Nigeria and Kenya.

The Cardiovascular Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) international nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting cardiovascular education, research and patient care in Africa and the African Diaspora.
